Provinces wishing to compete for the FA Trophy should not be permitted to delay their matches too long, said Mr Frank Campbell, chairman of the council of the New Zealand Football Association, at the meeting of the council last night. He thought that the competitions committee should give the game to the next challenger on the list if any province caused too much delay. . The Otago Football Association wrote that June 17 would be a suitable date for the trophy match with Auckland, at Dunedin. Wellington are the next challengers. . The Manawatu Football Association lodged a challenge for the Brown Shield. Wanganui have been awarded the shield, and South Auckland have the first right of challenge.' The following programme of Chatham Cup matches was approved:— July 15.—Local finalists to be found in all centres.

July 22.—Auckland winners v. South Auckland winners, in Auckland. July 22. —Wellington winners v. Wanganui, in Wellington.

July 22.—Canterbury winners v, Buller, in Christchurch.

August s.—Auckland or South Auckland v. Wanganui or Wellington, in Auckland or Hamilton.

August 19.—Otago winners v. Buller or Canterbury, in Christchurch. September 2.—North Island winners v. South Island winners, in final at the Basin Reserve, Wellington.

As well as Mr. Campbell, there were present at the meeting Messrs. J. A. Milburn, H. H. A. Renai, E. Hollis, F. Sanders, W. B. Hicks, B. Martin, J. Dick, J. Y. Walls, W. L. Wilson, P. Mackenzie, W. J. Vaney. and the secretary, Mr. Alf. Williams.
