Competitors in the first round of the British amateur golf championr ship who played at Hoylake were han* dicapped by a strong wind. David Collins (New Zealand) received a walk-oyer from C. S. Buckley. T. Edwards beat the Hon. Michael Scott, 2 and 1;* C.-Yates (U.S.A.) beat B. Thompson, 5 and 4; R. Chapman (U.S.A.) beat J. Crowley, 4 and 3.
