NEW SEAPLANE BASE
AUSTRALIAN DECISION
20 MILES FROM NEWCASTLE

CANBERRA, May 19
The Minister of Defence announced tonight that a new seaplane station is being established on the western shore of Lake Macquarie, 20 miles from Newcastle. Two squadrons would be stationed there. It was hoped to be able to afford protection to the vital steel and other industries in Newcastle.
