WHY CALL IT A CENTRAL LIBRARY?
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—"Why call the new library a central library?" asked Councillor L. McKenzie at the , recent City Council meeting. "It should be called the municipal library" I would remind Councillor McKenzie and his supporters, the Mayor and Councillors Luckie and Wright, that if they are not quick in seeing to the suggested alteration in name, the new library may in the future be known as the "councillors' mistake," as the name "Central Library" now appears in large, neat letters across the finished front of the new building. Do the Mayor and these councillors intend to have the scaffolding re-erected along the front of the building before it is finally removed from the site? Otherwise I suggest that the name remain as at present. It would be interesting to have the views of the Mayor and councillors on this point.—l am, etc.,
SUBURBAN LIBRAEY.
