SUPPORTER OF JAPAN

A strong supporter of Japan's policy in the Far East is to be found in Tom Walsh, author of "The Sino-Japanese Conflict," which is published by Angus and Robertson (Sydney). "The obvious result of Japan's spread into Asia," he writes, "is that millions live who would otherwise have perished miserably, and that over a greater surface of the globe there are human beings living at peace who would otherwise have been at war. To those who look upon a legalistic solution of human relationships, it may be possible to prove Japan technically in the wrong; but it is impossible to do so upon the higher plane of morality and humanity. On moral grounds, China can be no more left to herself than India or Africa could, once the Europeans intruded. The efforts of certain Powers to keep Japan and China apart are foredoomed to failure, for both Japan and China are part of Asia and have indissoluble economic and cultural ties. The will towards Asiatic unity and progress, has arisen in Japan, and she ' has carried it forward with a determination and courage which shouldawaken an admiration and respect. A new day has, indeed, dawned for Asia which will witness the rising of China's exploited millions from indescribable misery and ignorance to well being and power; and this will be accomplished by the spreading of Japan's philosophy I—the1—the real secret of her greatness—'All for Each and Each for All.'"
