PETONE 4, TECHNICAL 0.8. 1
Better tactics backed up by good combination and speed enabled Petone to defeat Technical Old Boys fftifly easily by 4 goals to 1 in the senior A division match at Petone. In the field Technical were a good match for their opponents, ffheir backs showed themselves master of most of the tricks of the game and their passing was accurate and well placed and timed, but when their attacks got within shooting distance they were unable to finish off. Time and again hesitation by the forwards gave Petone the- fraction of a second necessary to cover up or rob the attackers of the ball. Technical also sadly lacked a good goal shooter. A Leslie, who apparently specialises m goal kicking and little else, scored three of Petone s four goals, the other successful shots coming from Woods. Techniral's solitary goal was scored by Stanford from a well-placed centring kick by Wrigley. Mr. J. Saunderson was the referee.
