SENIOR
TECHNICAL 5 V. VARSITY 2
Technical had a good win against University at Xaenae after having the worst of the exchanges during the first half of the game. The University forwards started well and should have netted on frequent occasions in the first half but the Technical goalkeeper was hard to pass. Braithwaite and Shaw scored for University, and Garbett scored for Technical. In the second spell the Technical forwards were on top all the way and Garbett scored three goals and W. Wharen one. The game ended, Technical 5, University
Messrs. W. J. Dredge and C. Harvey were the umpires.
WESLEY 3 V. WELLINGTON 1
Wesley and Wellington played a fast and open game, but the former team had the advantage throughout. Both forward lines attacked frequently, but lack of finish in the circle kept the Wellington score down. During the first spell Moloney scored two goals for Wesley. The Wellington forwards showed to better advantage during the second spell and the exchanges were very even. Stephenson got in a good shot for Wellington and the Wellingten team tried hard to equalise the score without success. Shortly before the finish of the game Sowden got in a third shot for Wesley and the game ended Wesley 3, Wellington 1. Messrs. C. Gardiner and H. Kelly were the umpires.
KARORI I V. KARORI II
I Karori I and Karori II provided a brisk tussle at Karori Park. Both teams were evenly matched, but on the run of the play, Karori II deserved their 4-3 win, as they displayed better combination and penetration. Although Karori I were continually on attack, they lost many chances in the circle through wild and reckless hitting. A fault that both sides showed was turning on the ball, the umpires having to penalise for this breach several times. The movements of Karort 11. especially in the first half, were well executed, and had plenty of snap; those of Karori I on the other hand were more individual.
Goals were scored for Karori II by G. Adams, L. Fuller, and R. Hull (2), and C. Edwards (2) and M. Browne scored for Karori I. The umpires were Messrs. \V. Purves and D. Woodfield.
HUIA V. HUTT
With the field in excellent condition, fast, open work was the order in the Hutt v. Huia match, at the Hutt Recreation Ground. Much of the first spell was noted for the way the play travelled from one end of the field to the other in fast, open, long passing movements which gave the backs of both teams plenty to think about. Some very long clearances were made by the full-backs, who often had time to direct their hitting to the best advan•age. Although the.rfl was some strenuous circle work the sperj ended with no goals by either team
The Huia forwards closed up their play somewhat after the resumption, and the shorter passing many times had the Hutt defence bustled. However, the local backs' more powerful clearances held off the majority of the onslaughts. During this spell .ludd scored for Hutt and M. Dentice for Huia, while the latter also registered a goal from a penalty bully and gave Huia the lead. Huia 2, Hutt 1
