CERTIFICATES PRESENTED
There was a large attendance of members and friends recently, when the Hatatiai Red Cross Society held another demonstration evening. Mrs. A. L. Laurenson presided and introduced the lecturers. Mr. Harkness gave a talk on first-aid and artificial respiration. Captain Galloway sketched the essential points to be observed in making and equipping a gas-proof room in a private home, and demonstrated the use of gas masks. A feature of the evening was the presentation by Mrs. McDonald of the certificates gained in recent examinations, the recipients being heartily applauded. Musical items were given by Mrs. Markham and Miss Gibson, and a humorous sketch by Mr. R. Wakelin. Mrs. Laurenson expressed her appreciation and invited all present to join the society. Supper and the National Anthem concluded the evening.
