VACANT SEAT
NATIONAL CANDIDATE
There is a strong possibility that Mr. M. E. Lyons, secretary of the Canterbury A. and P. Association, will be the National candidate for the Christchurch South by-election on June 3, states the "Christchurch Star-Sun." An official announcement will be made at a meeting of members of- the Christchurch South branch of the National Party on Monday night. It is understood that Mr. Lyons has been invited to attend this meeting.
The selection committee, which has been examining the qualifications of possible candidates, met on Thursday afternoon, and a statement was made by the chairman (Dr. J. Guthrie) to the effect that the party's candidate is likely to be an experienced political campaigner, with interests in both city and country. -
