GAME IMPROVED
REGRADING OF TEAMS
UMPIRE'S OPINION
Consequent upon the adoption of the new rules this season umpires in general are of the opinion that the game has been straightened up, and the relegation system has resulted in teams giving of their best.
For this season the executive of the Wellington Hockey Association decided to restrict the teams in all grades to eight in number, junior and third grades to be in two divisions as required.
A system of relegation and promo-
tion has been instituted between senior A and senior B grades. This arrangement should tend to maintain interest and some keen tussles will be looked forward to. Here is an opportunity for those clubs without senior status and also those players who are seeking higher honours to prove their worth. It is anticipated that by this method a better standard of play will evolve, ns all senior teams will be striving to avoid relegation. Of course, there are dangers to be foreseen in this struggle for teams to keep on top, but it is to be hoped that good hockey will be developed, and above all, the spirit of the game kept uppermost.
