DEFENCE POLICY
LABOUR CAUCUS ENDS
The Government's defence policy was again the major consideration of the caucus of Parliamentary members of the Labour Party yesterday, when the caucus concluded. The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M: J. Savage) said last night that, the ,4i?cussiqn on defence had all been highly interesting. What members of caucus had been mainly concerned with. was. the land defence forces. They were enthusiastic about the' Government's activities to speed up and strengthen the : land forces. All agreed that it" was desirable that he should speak on the subject of defence as soon as possible* leaving the details to wait till tne:Government had received the report, of Major-General P. J. Mackesy on the land forces. Certainly no harm could be done, but quite a lot of good from broadcast addresses giving a general outline of the defence policy of the Government.
