ORDER OF ST. JOHN
CENTENNIAL APPEAL
£20,000 AIMED AT
At a meeting of the Commandery Counc/1 of the Venerable Order of St. John held thi_ week it was decided that its national Centennial appeal should be at least £20,000.
The funds will be used for consolidating its extensive work throughout the Dominion in which it has been en gaged during the past 54 years. Each district will retain the money collected and not more than 5 per cent, of the net proceeds will be donated to the general Dominion purposes of the Order.
The Auckland district begins Us local appeal for £5000 next week.
The distinctive work of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem is the instruction of the general public in first aid, home nursing, and sick room hygiene, duty on sports fields and in public places, ambulance transport, district nursing (bedside), and blood transfusion. It also provides reserves for the medical services in peace and war.
