"Arising out of a report that Miss GretcheiA Williams, of Dunedin, had the distinction of being the first student in New Zealand to obtain, by examinaition, the diploma of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture, Mr. G. S. Nicoll, Dominion secretary of the -institute, points out that this distinction is shared by approximately 60 other diplomates, including two other female students.
