The big French liner Paris, which was seriously damaged by fire on Tuesday when berthed at the dock-side in Le Havre. The Paris was about to leave for New York with several thousand passengers en route to the World Fair. The vessel eventually sank in between 30ft and 40ft of water, obstructing the entrance to a dry dock in which the Normandie was lying.
