CARRIERS' CONFERENCE

AUCKLAND, This Day,
The Dominion conference of the New Zealand Carriers' and Customs Agents' Federation concluded today:—
Officers were elected as follows: — President, Mr. J. H. Kirkwood (Dunedin); vice-presidents, Messrs. W. I. J. Blyth (Wellington), M. Simson (Auckland), and T. E. Wiltshire (Christichurch); council, Messrs. J. ... Henderson and J. C. Mowat (Dunedin), A. Hazleton and F. H. Musgrove (Christchurch), J H. Moon and E. J. Price (Auckland), B. Ginger and E. W. Hargreaves (Wellington),L.Pearson (Masterton), C. E. Moran (Lower Hutt), J. McDonald (Gisbome), C. G. Langridge (Palmerston North), J. B. Wood (Timaru), E. J. Jones (Invercargill), F. Hooker (New Plymouth), and W. Thornber (Blenheim); auditor, Mr. E. C. Jones (Wellington).
The conference decided to assure the Prime Minister of its wholehearted support in connection with defence, and, should the necessity arise, pledged willingness to co-operate to the full extent of transport details connected with defence. . It was decided to draw attention to anomalies in connection with heavy traffic fees and ask the- Government for an investigation with a view to readjustment of the tax. The next conference was fixed for Wellington.
