LIGHT MORTALITY: The mortalitj experienced was again light. SOUND INVESTMENT OF FUNDS: The effective rate of interest earned on funds and reserves was £5/0/] per cent, in the Ordinary Branch, and £4/16/10 per cent, in the Industrial Branch. Outstanding . interest at the end of the year amounted to £3421 only on assets of £28,000,000, and none of it was brought into account as an asset. THE RESULT. The M.L.C. has been able to maintain the high bonus rates paid for the year 1937.
