POWER BOARD SUPPLIES

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

PALMERSTON N., This Day,

. Representations by individual power boards concerning the import restrictions were having an embarrassing effect on negotiations taking place between the Power Boards' Association and the Customs Department and the Minister of Customs, Mr. J. A. Nash, chairman of the association, told the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board. Mr. Nash's remarks were prompted by a letter from the Central Waikato Power Board which sought the co-operation of all boards in an endeavour to have the restrictions lifted on British-made appliances and equipment until such time as the supply from local manufacturers could fully meet all demands. Mr. Nash said that excellent progress was being made in the discussions with the Customs Department, but resolutions that were being passed by individual boards were having a hampering effect. The matter must be left to the association-.

It was decided to inform the Waikato Board accordingly.
