SEMI-FINALS REACHED
As a result of yesterday afternoon's play in the New Zealand Ladies' Golf Union's autumn foursomes tourney at the Hutt links, Mrs. A. N. Shearer (Hutt) and Mrs. D. Chrisp (Gisborne), Mrs. Norman and Mrs. Ashe (Hutt), Mrs. Lewis (Hutt), and Miss E. WhiteParsons (Christchurch), and Mrs. Chapman and Mrs. Munden (Hutt) were .left to contest the semi-finals, which were to be played this morning. The rain, which started in the morning, slackened about noon, but came on again heavily in the afternoon, making conditions extremely difficult and unpleasant for the fourth round matches. In" the fourth round match, between Mrs. Slater and Mrs. Chrisp and Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Wilson, the former pair, started convincingly, taking the first three holes in 3, 5, 3. Steady play allowed their opponents to take the fourth in 5 to 6, but positions were reversed at the sixth. The only stroke allowance of the match was received by Mrs, Slater and Mrs. Chrisp at the seventh, but they only managed a half, their opponents going down for a bogey 4 to 5. At the turn Mrs. Slater and Mrs. Chrisp stood 3 up. Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Wilson showed steadier form! in the second round, but although they reduced the leeway slightly, they could make no marked difference to the score. Mrs. Slater and Mrs. Chrisp finally won the match by 3 and 2. i Eesults of yesterday afternoon's play were as follows:— AUTUMN FOURSOMES. Fourth Round. Mrs. Slater and Mrs. Chrisp beat Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Wilson, 3 and 2. Mrs. Ashe and Mrs. Norman beat Mrs. Marshall and Mrs. Harman, 3 and 2. Mrs. Lewis and Miss White-Parsons beat Miss Beadel and Miss Nutt, 1 up, Mrs. Chapman and Mrs. Munden beat Mrs. Holden and Mrs. Esdaile, 3 and 2. FLIGHT HANDICAP. Third Round. Mrs. Crombie and . Mrs. Turnbull beat Miss Campbell and Mrs. Hatrick at the nineteenth. Miss Collins and Miss Horwell beat Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Blundell, 4 and 2. Mrs. Hollis and Miss Illston beat Mrs. Paterson and Mrs. Reilly, 3 and I. Mrs. Kingscote a*d Mrs. R. Whyte beat Mrs. Collis-Brown and Mrs. Harvey. Handicap Bogey. The best card returned in the bogey handicap was 6 down, Mrs. Monkman (Hutt) and Miss H. Griffen (Miramar) being the winners.
