SOCCER SUPPORT
PRIME MINISTER'S APPEAL
"My executive has requested me to take this, the first opportunity since the statement of the Prime Minister at the State Defence luncheon, of assuring the Prime Minister of the loyal co-operation and support of all Soccer players in this district for the defence of New Zealand," said Mr. J. Meltzer, chairman of the management committee of the Wellington Football Association, at its meeting last night. "If the call comes," said Mr. Meltzer, "and we earnestly hope it never will, we will not be found wanting in our duty. Soccer is a game that teaches the players that united as a team they can succeed, but as individuals they will fail. I am confident that this team spirit will enable us to act as united citizens in the defence of New Zealand. Of that the Prime Minister can be assured."
