MELLING BRIDGE
PROSECUTIONS CONTINUE
Despite the fact that the bridge is now decorated with prominent notices, motorists continue to be penalised for failing to observe the regulation that on]y one car at a time is permitted to cross the Melling bridge. Today nine people were penalised by Mr. A. M. Goulding, S.M. in the Lower Hutt Court for failing to observe this regulation. All pleaded guilty. Inspector A. J. Archer conducted the prosecutions.
George Black (Wellington), Aubrey Edney (Petone), George Littlejohn, Herbert Shepherd (Petone), Mervyn Strong. Mervyn Te Miha (Wellington), Dudley Tranter (Upper Hutt), and Iris Williamson (Wellington) were each fined 10s and costs, and Ernest Tanner (Wellington) was convicted and ordered to pay costs.
