AUCKLAND, This Day,
■C. and A. Odlin's log sawmill at Glen Eden was totally destroyed by fire early this morning. The building was 100 ft square and contained 3000 ft of sawn timber, a portion of which was kauri on order to London. The loss is estimated at approximately £2000. The insurance amounts to £1300. Three-quarters of a million feet of timber in a yard were saved by the strenuous efforts of a bucket brigade.
The mill had a capacity of 10.000 ft of timber daily. Fourteen men were employed, but the firm states that it intends to rebuild immediately and will keep the employees in work as far as possible.
