NEW SELECTOR
MR. A. MCDONALD CHOSEN
An intimation that Mr. M. F. Nicholls would not be available for reappointment as Wellington's Rugby selector was given by the chairman (Mr. J. N. Millard) at last night's meeting of the Wellington Rugby Union's management committee. For some years Mr. Nicholls had carried out the duties of selector, but, it was
stated, for business reasons he would not be able to accept office this year. Consideration was given by the committee to the appointment of a successor, and it was agreed that, subject to his being available, Mr. A. McDonald be appointed sole selector. Mr. McDonald's acceptance has since been notified by Mr. Millard. A member of the famous 1905 All Black team, and a New Zealand representative on other occasions, Mr. McDonald was one of Otago's leading for- | wards. Since his playing days he has i taken an active part in coaching and administrative work, and for some years he has been a member of the New Zealand Rugby Union's executive, as well as having been a New Zealand and South Island selector. During the time that he has been stationed in Wellington he has coached the Wellington College Old Boys' senior team. He was co-manager (with Dr. G. J. Adams) of the New Zealand team which visited Australia last year.
