WOMEN'S CLUB PARTY

A large number were present at the Women's .Club recently, when the musical circle were the entertainers. Mrs.-T. W. BlennerhassetV president of the club, welcomed the guests, and also Madame Ivo Symons, the convener. The pretty rooms .were adorned with rose-pink dahlias! The programme presented included items by Mesdames Leo Campion, Barriball, G. Sa'unders, W. Cook, F. Ludbrook, and Miss Norman. The accompaniments were played by Mesdames Campion, J. W. Browne, and. Coyle (England). Among those, present were Mepdames T. Oldaker T. Graham; R. Triggs, F. Hutchison, D. Mackintosh, M. Hunter, B. Harvey. W. Paul, F. Brettargh, D. L. Blyth, H. V. Hammond, A. G. Stapleton, Misses Cameron, Davis Avery, G. Ayes, H. Barnott, R. Horrell, and Cummins. Wanganui Girls* College. A calm, warm day made conditions very pleasant for the large number of parents and friends who met at the Wanganui Girls' College sports grounds for the annual school sports. Miss E. M. Baker, the college principal, welcomed the guests, who were entertained at afternoon tea. Among the many present were Dr. Mollie and Dr. Kenrick Christie, Dr. W. L. and Mrs. Widdowson, Archdeacon J. B. Young, the Rev. A. S. Parr. Mesdames A. Millward. N. Annabell, C. F. Millward, C. R. White. W. J. Gardner, E. G. Cutfield,' J. Williams. L. H. Kerr, W. Treadwell, W, McFarlane, E. B. Tustin, I. Davidson, A. Bayly, G. H. Robertson. G. Payne, C. S. Jells, J. Aitken; Misses J. R. Currie. J. Barton, and B. Adams. Towns-women's Guild. The annual meeting of the Wanganui Towns women's" Guild was well attended, and several beautiful bouquets or shoulder sprays were presented to various officials. The president, Mrs. W. J. Rogers, welcomed the members, and spoke of trie excellent progress made during the year by the various groups—garden, civic, arts and crafts, drama, etc. There is a membership of 207, most of whom take part in one or more of the activities of the guild. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President. Mrs. Rogers (reelected); vice-president. Mrs: J. D. Denniston; chairwoman, Mrs. F. W. Wagstaff; vice-chairwoman. Mrs. A. Mayo; honorary secretary, Mrs. Archibald (re-elected); honorary treasurer, Mrs. A. H. Cole (re-elected). Pie-wedding Dance. Mis 3 Jean Smith, of Patea, whose marriage was celebrated this week, was the guest of honour at a big gathering held recently in the Druids' Hall Patea. Kitchen gifts were taken by all the guests, and as the occasion was also Miss Smith's twenty-first birthday, congratulations were general. The hostesses were Mrs. A. Davidson and Miss L. Bond. Dancing and items filled a -delightful evening. Bon Voyage. Many friends spent an enjoyable evening recently, when, a surprise party called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. Lowry to wish Mr. Lowry voyage" before he leaves on. a trip to Ireland. Danoing, games, and items by Misses B, and N. Brooks and D. Stent; passed a happy evening. On behalf of neighbours and friends, Mr. S. Ramsay presented to the guest of honour a smoker's outfit, and Mr. G. MacMe, on behalf of the Otara Tennis Club; presented a fountain pen. and propelling pencil. Silver Wedding. A large number of guests were entertained at the Savage Club. Hall recently, when Mr, and Mrs. J. Healey celebrated their silver wedding anniversary. Dancing and items filled a very happy evening, and enthusiastic toasts were drunk to the health and happiness of Mr. and Mrs. Healey. Personals. Mr. and Mrs. W. Matthews have returned to Waverley from-Wellington. The Rev, A. F. Parr and Mrs. Parr, are visiting Christchureh.

Mrs.. Kaggitt, Wellington, is visiting, her. father. Mr. J. R. Hunger, at Patea. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Wellwood have returned to the Wairarapa.
