DEFENCE LEAGUE
MEETING ARRANGED
The New Zealand Defence League, which was formed to arouse public interest in the need for defence in the Dominion, has been actively engaged on a campaign of public meetings during recent weeks, and the Wellington branch has arranged for a meeting in the Town Hall next Wednesday evening. The president of the league (the Hon. W. Perry, M.L.C.) will be the speaker, and as he has always made a close study of international affairs and their implications his address should be an interesting one.
The league has repeatedly stressed the need for adequate defence measures within New Zealand, and the Dominionwide campaign that is being conducted by Mr. Perry has a dual purpose: first to arouse public interest in defence matters, and second to stimulate recruiting for the Territorial Forces. The value of public interest in army and air activities is realised by many, and Mr. Perry hopes to awaken others to a similar realisation.
