STUD SHEEP PRICES
KILLEYMOON DISPERSAL
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
FEILDING, April 13,
A dispersal sale of the well-known Killeymoon stud Southdown flock on behalf of the estate of Ellis Brothers, Bulls, broke five world's price records for a sheep sale today.
The first record was in a price of 500 guineas for a single ram, which Messrs. J. and J, D. Hadely, of Rangiora, paid for the famous ram Luton Hqo 804, head of the Killeymoon stud. Australian competition for this and other top sheep was very keen. The second record was in a price of 125 guineas for an ewe, the purchaser being Mr, James Knight, of Feilding. The same buyer made another record when he paid 160 guineas for a ram lamb, the sire of which was Luton Hoo 604 and the dam the 125-guinea ewe previously bought by Mr. Knight.
Two more records were in the total price of 15,500 guineas, the highest ever realised for a single flock at a dispersal sale, and in the average of over 10 guineas a head for the whole of the offering of 1434 stud sheep of all ages. Breeders from all parts of. New Zealand and Australia were represented at the sale, and many quality Killeymoon Southdowns will have their future homes across the Tasman.
