F.A. TROPHY

PLUNKET SHIELD SYSTEM SUGGESTED

"That the rules of the Football Asociation Trophy be amended to pro-

vide that the competition be conducted along the lines of the Plunket Shield competition in cricket, i.e., that each of the four major centres shall play the other three centres once during the season, points to be awarded for each game." This remit, moved by Mr. W. J. Vaney on behalf of. the Wellington Football Association, at last night's annual meeting of the New Zealand Football Association, met with a dubious reception, principally because of the expense it would involve, and it was referred to the incoming council for consideration if finances permitted. Mr. Vaney and Mr. W. B. Hicks, who seconded the remit, admitted some diffidence about the suggestion. It cost the New Zealand Council about £500 in two years when a similar system was followed with the F.A. Trophy some time ago, said Mr. F. Sanders (Nelson).
