VICTORIA HOUSE FIRE
FLOODED BASEMENT PUMPED OUT
Members of the firm of F. J. W. Fear and Co., Willis Street, saw the floor of the basement portion of their premises yesterday for the first time since the Victoria House fire. When the big blaze was extinguished and it was again possible to enter the shop, the basement, containing a workshop and a valuable stock of .spare parts, was found flooded to a depth of four and a half feet.
Dewatering has been •proceeding since, and, except for surface pools, the concrete floor of the basement was free of water for the first time yesterday morning, and men wearing thigh boots began sorting out the damaged stock and cleaning up the mess.
