MONOTYPE RACE

PAREMATA REGATTA

The Wellington provincial monotype championship was the most important' event decided today at the Paremata Boating Club's Easter regatta. It was won by E. Wagstaff, of the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor-b,,oat Club, in Manahau, with W. Reid, in Te Utu, second, and B. Jukes, in Mamuka, third. R. Bailey was leading in Lyla when he fell overboard, but he regained his boat and finished eighth.

The final race for the Josephine Brady Cup was sailed this morning, and as a result of their performances in the three races, Tassie and Marjorie, the latter an Auckland boat, tied for first place on points. Innocence was third.

Packing cases and waste material which ignited threatened a six-roomed one storeyed house, 5) Orchard Street, Wadestown, occupied by Mr. G. Allard, at 1.33 a.m. yesterday. Slight damage was done to weatherboarding at the rear of the premises. The building is owned by Miss K. Davis.

Several offenders appeared before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today and pleaded guilty to charges of drunkenness. Three second statutory offenders, William Robert Norman, aged 67, Hugh Shannon, a labourer, aged 57, and James Arthur Shaw, a driver, aged 47, were each convicted and fined 10s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment.
