MAN IN HOTEL YARD

FRACTURE OF SKULL CAUSES

DEATH

Found lying unconscious in. the yard of the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel at about 3 p.m. on Saturday, a man of about 55 years of age was carried inside, and was later removed by the Free Ambulance to the Wellington Public Hospital, where he died at 9.45 a.m. yesterday from a fracture of the skull.

Police inquiries were immediately instituted, and it is believed that the man's name was Andressen, that he was employed as a storeman by MeGowan and Magee, Ltd., and that some time previously he had resided at Thorndon.

Investigations were carried out by detectives, but no suspicious circumstances were revealed, and the police are of the opinion that the deceased, while entei-ing the . yard, fell down some steps and struck his head on the concrete edge of a sump.
