RACE-RIDING IN INDIA

A move is being made in India to do away with European jockeys, according to the Sydney rider W Cook, who returned to Australia recently. He'said that during the last two years there had been an endeavour to train Indians as jockeys in order eventually to exclude foreign riders. In his opinion, however, the Indian riders would not succeed, as they did not seem to be natural horsemen. The scheme, he added, was being organised on a big scale, with special training schools for apprentices and jockeys.
