CHORUS OF APPROVAL
EXPANSION. OF
ARMY
tmaepandent Cable Service.*
LONDON, March 30. The British Press choruses in approval of the Government's decision to expand the Territorial Army. The "Daily Telegraph" says that the news will be received with relief as well as approval. It emphasises that the response to the recruiting appeal will be the decisive test of the voluntary principle. Some newspapers are disappointed that the Government has not gone further. The "Daily Mail" regrets the Government adherence to the voluntary principle and says: "The majority <rf the people would range themselves behind the Governrnent if it boldly followed Australia's lead for a compulsory national register."
