CONTROL OF W.F.A.
PETONE PROPOSAL DEFEATED
Overwhelming defeat was the fate of a motion proposed by the Petone Club at last night's annual meeting of the Wellington Football Association "That the management committee of the W.F.A. be composed of a representative of each senior club."
-"This motion," said Mr. J. Meltzer, chairman of the outgoing management committee, "strikes at the very roots of what we consider to be the fundamental basis 6f the management committee, that club interests should be completely forgotten and that the members of the committee should act in the interests of football in the district as a whole." (Applause.) He pointed out also that the motion provided no representation for the Interhouse League, the junior management committee, and the referees, who were all represented on the management committee under the present system, under which the committee consisted of seven members elected by the annual meeting and representatives of the bodies mentioned.
In reply to a question it was stated that the motion intended giving representation to each of the sixteen first A division and first B division clubs, and to this the comment was made that such a committee would be "unwieldy.
