Pressure has risen over New Zealand with the advance of an anticyclone from, the west, but Is now beginning to fall again in the south under the influence of a shallow depression moving"across the southern Tasman Sea. Yesterday moderate to strong south-westerly to southerly winds were general. Light showers fell in eastern areas between Banks Peninsula and East Cape, but otherwise the weather was fine, though rather cold. There were some frosts last night in Canterbury and Otago. By this morning winds had become light to moderate in force with southerlies still predominating over the North Island and northerlies from Cook Strait southwards. The weather was fine generally. >
