(Received March 29, 2.15 p.m.)
LONDON, March 28,
The Minister of Transport, Mr. Leslie 3urgin, disclosed that the Government would take over all railways in the event of war, and would also strictly control roads and curtail private motoring in order to conserve supplies of petrol to provide adequate food transport to the more remote districts.
Mr. Burgin added that docks and shipping routes presented countless problems, but plans were being prepared to maintain the essential services.
