FIRST-AID DEPOT
RESPONSE TO APPEAL
In response to a wireless appeal for assistance by the Police Department, the St. John Ambulance Brigade established first-aid depots in the Orient Cafe, Victoria Street, and the Working Men's Club, soon after the fire started, and Mr. W. W. Dutton, assistant commissioner, controlled members of the ambulance and nursing divisions from headquarters at the Working Men's Club.
A large number of members responded to the appeal, and some 22 cases of persons suffering from burns, cuts from glass, and abrasions were attended to.
