Advice has'been received of the following promotions and appointments to the Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem:—

For admission to the grade of officer: Captain David Collingwood Low, M.D., divisional surgeon, Nelson Ambulance Division; Mrs. Mary Cook McWhannell, Lady Divisional Superintendent, Wellington Suburban Nursing. Division.

For admission to the grade of serving sister: Mrs. Rosalie. Georgina Wilson, Lady Corps Officer, Wellington.

Wellington warrants of appointment: E. Sherry, cadet superintendent, Palmerston North; J. W. Roy, cadet officer, PetonepC. R. Hawk'es, ambulance officer, Hastings. '' NEWTOWN DIVISION.

A meeting was held in Newtown recently to form a new division of the St. John Ambulance • Brigade. , Leading officers of St. John present were Assistant Commissioner Hutton, Corps Superintendent Elyines, Corps Doctor C. E. Kemp, Superintendent W. Whiteley, First Officer H. Turner, and Divisional Secretary E. Earnshaw. Eighteen members. expressed their willingness to join up with the division. Many ways were decided on to raise funds. Much credit is due to Superintendent W.: Whiteley, First Officer H. Turner, and the secretary, Mr. E. Earnshaw, for their work in the formation of the division.
