N.Z. PACKERS' DISPUTE
A hearing in the New Zealand storemen and packers' industrial dispute commenced in .conciliation council this morning before the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. S. Ritchie). Most of the morning was spent in, giving consideration to the parties to the award, a number having applied for exemption. A brief run through of the claims an* counter-claims was made, but no clauses of a major nature, relating to wages, etc., had been reached by the luncheon adjournment. The hearing continued this afternoon, and will be completed tomorrow. The assessors for the employers are Messrs. C. A. Deuxberry and L. C. Miller (Auckland),1 L. S. Alsweiler (Invercargill), H. C. Williams (Christchurch), H. Henderson (Dunedin), W. Talbot and McPherson Jones (Wellington). The employees' assessors are Messrs. W. Miller, W. G. Rudkin (Auckland), J. Murphy (Napier), J. S. Barnett (Christchurch), H. J. Sweeney (Wellington), L. Herbert (Dunedin)* and G. S. Coleman (Nelson).
