ANNUAL FIELD DAY
FARMERS AT WALLACEVILLE
Despite the inclement weather, the annual field day of the Makara-Hutt Valley branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held yesterday at the Government laboratories, Wallaceville. Farmers and their wiyes numbering over 150 attended and inspected |he plant and stock. Lectures were given by Dr. I. Cunningham and Messrs. McFarlane and James. Dr. C. S. M. Hopkirk spoke on his observations on a recent trip abroad. The gathering, which included agricultural students from St. Patrick's College, Silverstream, was addressed by Mr. R. Sievers, provincial president of the Farmers' Union, and Mr. B. Roberts, M.P. The Hon. W. Nash, Minister of Finance, and the Hon. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, were unable to attend.
