BREAKING RECORDS

DOMINION MONARCH

The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company yestarday received a message by radio from their new liner Dominion Monarch* en route from London to Australia and New Zealand, via the Cape of Good Hope. Already she has broken one record and expects to break another within' the next few days.

The message, sent after the liner left. Durban on March 6 for Fremantle, states that she was crossing the Indian Ocean at full speed and was scheduled to take nine and a half days on this part of the voyage ,thus breaking all records from South Africa to Australia.

The Dominion Monarch received a tumultuous welcome from 40,000 people at Durban when she broke the England-Durban ocean record by nearly 36 hours with a passage of 15 days 21 hours 16 minutes. She had then been delayed for 1£ hours by fog on the Cape coast. It was estimated that 150,000 people inspected the ship at Durban, thousands being turned away.

When the message was sent the Dominion Monarch was encountering rough seas, a swell, and a fresh beam wind. She is due here on March 25;
