VICEREGAL.

At Government House this morning his Excellency the Governor-General received Sir Harry Batterbee, the newly-appointed High Commissioner in New Zealand for his Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom.

The following were the guests of their Excellencies at dinner at Government. House last evening:—Sir Julien Cahn and Lady Cahn, Mr. J. Heenaa..' and Mrs. Heenan, Colonel O. H. Mead '• and Mrs: Mead, Mr. Warwick Gregory - and Mrs. Gregory, Mr. G. Wolfe.

Mr. W. H. Price, late branch mana- ~ ger of the Union Steam Ship Company, arrived at Wellington from the south this morning.

Mr. A. Taylor, news editor of the ■ "Madras Mail," accompanied by Mrs. . Taylor, arrived at Auckland by the Rangitata from England yesterday. Mr. Taylor is on furlough, and is now on the way back to India.

Mr. W. R. Fee, president of the NewZealand Cricket Council, arrived from Auckland today by the Liimited/ . express.

Mr. W. E. Anderson, secretary of the Auckland Employers' Association, arrived today by the Limited express.

Commander W. H. Bremner, . RJNT. (retired), of Northumberland,- England,. - was a passenger by. the liner Strathallan, which arrived at Auckland on a cruise from Brisbane yesterday. Commander Bremner, who is making „' the round voyage in the vessel from • England, served in New Zealand from 1930 to 1933, when he was attached to the Naval Office, Wellington. He arrived at Wellington today to rejoin the vessel here.
