An unusual appeal is published in. a recent issue of the "Norfolk Island Weekly." It is. an invitation to some person with-a wide variety of accomplishments to fill a vacancy ' on. the teaching staff at the Norfolk Island Public School., These are' the qualifications 'insisted upon: "Must be an unmarried male, experienced/• in . gen-i eral class teaching, and capable of giving instruction in all branches of manual training, including woodwork, metal work, cardboard work^-. wire work, leather work (art and saddlery), art, agriculture, and agricultural botany, and,swimming (peferably holder of instructor's certificate in life-saving). Knowledge of music, with ability to teach part-singing v is desirable, though not essential. The appointee should also bfc the holder of a motor-driver's licence so that he can transport pupils to swimming, and.he must take a.keen and active interest in all branches of sport." ; . ■ ■
