VALAMITO AMISS

GRATEFUL AT AWAPUNI

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

TAKANINI, February 3. Valamito suffered a fall in the open handicap on Monday at Ellerslie, and while at first he was thought to have escaped any serious injury, he has been an absentee from the track this week, and his trainer states that he is amiss, and is concerned that his preparation for immediate engagements will be adversely affected. Valamito was right at the top of his form, and it will be a pity if he has to forgo his engagements in the Waikato and Te Aroha Cups.

The Raceful gelding Grateful was railed south earlier in the week, and he has been,: sent to L. G. Morris's stable at AWapuni. He scored at the Avondale Spring Meeting, but went amiss in his next start at Ellerslie, and since then he has been blistered and turned out. It is only a question of his remaining sound to find him a very payable proposition, while he is an ideal type of jumper who might prove instantly successful if tried in this department of the game. . Milanion, who has been an absentee from the tracks since the ißjbring, is again in work. This gelding won at his last start as a two-year-old at Avondale, but did not reproduce that form when raced earlier this season. A subsequent hock injury kept him out of action for some time, and on present appearances it may be a little while, yet before he acquires racing condition.
