NEW LAUNCH
BUILT IN SPARE TIME
In his spare time over the last five years Mr. John Kimmins has built a large fishing launch, which was launched at Worser Bay last Sunday. Of one-inch planking, with birch ribs and rata stems, the new craft is a credit to her builder. She is 29ft in length and has a beam of nearly 9ft, and although powered with a 7 h.p. marine engine is also to be rigged with sails. With a comfortable cabin she should prove eminently satisfactory for the purpose for which she was built, though Mr. Kimmins intends to use her also as a pleasure Mttnch.
The task of launching the boat was an arduous one, starting at 5 a.m. and finishing at 2 p.m. From where she was built in the front garden, the boat was manoeuvred to the footpath, about 200 yards along the road, and then through dry sand to the beach. Several residents of Worser Bay and friends of Mr. Kimmins assisted in the job.
