TOUR OPENS AT AUCKLAND-

Sir Julien Cahn's team is to assemble in Auckland next week, there to commence its' New Zealand toiir with a match against a team from the Auckland colleges on Saturday. Nine members of the team, with the manager (Mr. E. G. Wolfe) are due at Auckland by the Rangitiki on Thursday. The four Australians in the side have been visiting their home country before coming to New Zealand, and C. S, Dempster has been in New Zealand since December. Sir Julien Cahn and party are due at Auckland on February 17, and will proceed direct to Wanganui, to join the team there.

Cricketers Oft board the Rangitiki are A. H. Dysdn (Glamorgari), J. Hardstaff (Notts),\G. F. Heane (Notts), C. R. Maxwell (Notts), N. Oldfield (Lanes), W. E. Phillipson (Lanes), T. P. B. Smith (Essex), E. A. Watts (Surrey), and W. E. AstiU (Leicester). They are all well, and looking forward to their matches in New Zealand. Only Hardstaff has been to the Dominion previously.

Before leaving for Tilbury to board the Rangitiki, the cricketers were farewelled by Sir Julien and Lady Cahn, Mr. W. J: Jordan (New Zealand High Commissioner), Sir Harry Batterbee (High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in the Dominion), and others, all joining in wishing them a happy voyage and an enjoyable tour. At Tilbury a notable gathering of cricket administrators and cricketers asseriibled to send the team off with good wishes. In the party were Sir Pelham Warner arid Mr. H. D. G. Leveson-Gower, R. W. V. Robins, E. R. T. Holmes, Harold Gilligan, I. A. R. Peebles, and R. C. 'Blunt (a former New. Zealand Test player).

The Australian members of the team —J. G. Lush, V. E. Jackson, H. Mudge, and J. E. Walsh—are proceeding from Sydney direct to Auckland.
