PARTY FOR SISTER

VISITOR FROM ENGLAND

Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Todd gave a large party at their home, No. 9 Tinakori Road, last evening for Mrs. Todd's sister, Miss Margaret Malfroy, who arrived from England last week to spend a holiday in New Zealand as their guest. Hydrangeas, carnations, and gladioli in! deep shades of pink, blue, and mauve were arranged in the draw-ing-room, where they blended beautifully with the old-rose and green furnishings. In the study there were also summer flowers, and from the adjoining sun porch the guests had a view of the garden and harbour.

Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pinkerton (Detroit), Mr. and Mrs. Warwick Gregory, Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Young, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miles, Mr. and Mrs. Morton Paterson, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Grant, Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Williams, Group-Captain the Hon. R. A. Cochrane, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Turnbull, Miss Helen Whyte, Miss Penelope Blundell, Mrs. T. Ellis, Dr. Morvyn Williams, Miss Margot Peacock, Mr. and Mrs. Barry Blundell, Miss Violet Hutchison, Mrs. Charles Levin, Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Pritchard, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Nathan, Mrs. Lindsay Gilmour, Mr. Denis Blundell, Mrs. Stanley Wallens, Mr. and Mrs. T. McCarthy, Miss Muriel Enright, Mr. John Gill, Mr. B. Leckie, Mr. Alec Whitcombe, Miss Barbara Standish, Mr. Ross Gore, Mr. Eru Gore, Mr. Charles Todd, Dr. Kennedy Elliott, Mr. Lan Salmond, Dr. B. Elliott, Miss Joyce Nathan, Mrs. Warburton (England), Mr. R. Watson, Miss/June Brodie, and Mrs. W. Thurgood.

Bad grass-stains on white flannel will yield to a mixture of yolk of egg and glycerine. Leave on the mark for at least an hour, then wash off. The stain will come out quite easily with this treatment.
