BURNSIDE FIRMER.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.! DUNEDIN, December 21. Values were firmer at Burnside stock sale today, which was the Christmas double market. Only 308 head of fat cattle came forward. Good cows and heifers were in short supply and commanded a firm sale. About 1641 fat sheep came forward, and at the start there was a general firming, though poorer quality was easier. The large total of 2917 fat lambs was forward, and, though butchers found prices higher than recently, export buyers operated at full schedule throughout. Pigs had a keen sale, prices generally being fully 10s a head up on late rates.
