REPUBLICAN CHARGES
OPEN TOWN BOMBINGS

General Franco has sent a Note to Britain denying the Republican allegations of bombing of open towns, but admitting that military objectives are sometimes located in open towns. It is stated that bombings are carried out under orders from the general staff. It was asserted that the Republicans place civilians near objectives in order to use the victims for propaganda purposes. It is claimed that the Republicans carried out 2091 raids on 373 open towns, resulting in 18,985 casualties.
