BEAU MARI DISAPPOINTS
(From "Vedette.")
SYDNEY, November 12.
Beau Mari proved a costly failure again at Warwick Farm last Saturday, Backed as a certainty at ridiculous odd9-on, he was caught unprepared at the start, losing several lengths. He caught his field at "the turn and led a furlong from home, but put up no fight when tackled by Bonny Loch, a neat Rampion—Bonnie Valeric colt. Bonny Loch is a fair galloper, and on this display Beau Mari is not as good as many believed, an, opinion subscribed to by his rider, E.'Bartle."
J. T. Jamieson had an expensive day, for Improvement was. backed and beaten over a mile. He was having his first run after a spell, and just lacked the necessary sting.
G. Price provided the third horse in this event in Troy, who, like Im-' provement, is by Chief Ruler. Troy was running on at the finish, and will be improved by the outing. There was a little Yorkshire relish about the Warwick Farm Meeting when Leeds and Bradford scored for ownertrainer E. F. Smith. They are brothers* by Rossendale from Princess Delight. Leedsi a four-year-old, Won his first race, a mile maiden handicap. Bradford, formerly believed to be a good middle-distance performer, outpaced the sprinters and won brilliantly over six furlongs. Mrs. E. J. Watt won the November Handicap with Osculum in a poor field of five. At the present time the handicap horses in Sydney are poor, and Osculum, although a weak animal, was able to struggle home. Welcome, believed to be hopelessly broken down, reappeared at Kensington this week and outclassed a fair field. As a two-year-old she was top class and.her ability to race and win after fourteen months' absence is a tribute to veterinary science. She was a tremendous boom, being rushed at a short price and finished at odds-on. Mr. R. B. Greenslade won another race with Miltiadesat Kensington, the colt's second in his career. By Iliad from Black Cat, he has been rather a disappointment, for he has won only two races, despite his ability to gallop fast. He defeated some fair gallopers this week, but was helped toy half the field losing all chance at the barrier.
The Canterbury Park Club has been informed by the A.J.C. that it cannot grant the alteration of racing dates. The Hawkesbury Club will retain its fixture on the Saturday prior to the Spring Meeting at Randwick. • It is evident that the fight is on between the proprietary clubs.
