NAVY LEAGUE

The monthly meeting of the Wellington branch of the Navy League was held last night, Mr. Gordon Reid presiding. ' It was decided to send a letter of congratulation to the winner of the third prize in the junior "section of the I Palmer Prize essay competition, Betty N. H. Maxwell, Lagoon Valley, Hawea Flat, Central Otago, who had submitted a really creditable essay. It was stated that the competitor was only 10 years of, age, and the merit of her effort had been enhanced by the fact that she did not attend school but was a pupil of the Government Correspondence School. The examiners of the competition, Colonel R. St. J. Beere, Captain A. V. Hale-Munro, Dr. Graham Robertson, Mr. A. Dickens, and Mr. R. Darroch, were thanked. ,
