OLD PUPILS' REUNION

(From "The Post's" Representative.) WANGANUI. October 25:

From many parts of New Zealand old pupils of the Wanganui Technical College, came again this weekend to take part in the annual celebrations. Rowing, tennis, soccer, hockey, and basketball were among the competitive games arranged. The weather was comparatively fine. One of the evening functions was the old girls' "tea," when some 50 old girls met at the "Rendezvous." The guests of honour were Mr. I. Newton (principal of the college) and Mrs. Newton, Miss D. Soeburg (of the teaching staff), and Misses M. Wallace, and T. Soeburg (the former teachers). The president of the Old Girls' Association (Mrs. R. A. Goodey) welcomed the guests. After the tea a social evening was held in the college assembly hall. A largely-attended service was held in the college hall on Sunday evening, being conducted by old pupils, Messrs. Whitlock, Fowler, and Lind. Afterwards 60 visitors were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Newton at their St. John's Hill home at supper. Reunion Ball. For the reunion ball, helpers had evolved a delightful colour scheme, using the colours of the various "houses," which met in the centre of the ceiling to form a lattice with, the school colours of blue, white, and gold, outlined in fairy lights! The committee comprised Mrs. R. A. Goodey, Misses Madeley (secretary), P. Ryan, E. Siddals, K. Waters, E. Delves, N. Brock, and Messrs. W. Goldsbury, E, Rewy, D. Sheriff, G. Delves, G. A. Thompson, and J. Spooner. Among the guests were Mr. I. Newton (principal of the college) and Miss Newton, Mr. and Mrs. H. Ward, Mesdames W. Hall (Wellington), G. C. Fowler, J. Johnstone, J. C. Ward, D. Woolcott, W. Skelsey, R. Packard, E. Everett, D. Bassett, M. Bourne, and Misses M. Guy (Hawera), J. Evans (Wellington), B. Hermans (Wellington). M. Woollams, J. Hair, F. Clark (New Plymouth), B. Wallace, D. Simson, R. McGregor, M. McAdie, P. J. Wylds (New Plymouth), and J. Cook (Waverley). Garden Party. Members and friends of the Wanganui branch of the Victoria League spent a pleasant afternoon in Mrs. A. H. Boyes's garden on Friday, when a function was arranged to help the funds of the Mildred Newcombe Memorial. Stalls of various kinds did quite a good business, and tea was served from a big sunporch. The stallholders were: Mesdames N. R. Bain, P. H. Hartland. and Miss Gibbons, Misses J. Barton and B. Adams, Mesdames Barclay and G. J. Adams assisted the hostess. Among the many present were Mesdames B. Lethbridge, T. Dix, D. G. Poison, O. Lewis, J. Babbage, C. M. Strouts, G. W. Currie, T. Graham, F. P. Talboys, W. Birch, E. Cole, R. Neumann, T. Wells, B. Harvey, G. Pearce, A. Millward, P. A. O'Neill, T. Hine, A. Hatrick, and Misses Poison, M. Harrison, B. Babbage, and J. and N. O'Neill. "Radiant Living." The "Radiant Living" group at Wanganui celebrated "Founders' Day" by a pleasant evening party in McGruar's Hall. Mesdames Todd, Newsome, Bil- j derbeck, and Ross had decorated the i hall very artistically, and community j singing, vocal and violin solos, and com-: petitions in choral singing passed a happy evening. The birthday cake, decorated in the group colours of blur: and gold, was the work of Miss Then Collier. ; Personals. j Misses M. Jack and D. Symes, Weilington, spent the weekend at Wanganui. Miss J. Withers, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. G. Burr. , ; Misses E. Low and A. Mitchell visited Wellington for the Government] House Ball and Trentham races.

Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Hodson, Wellington, are in Wanganui for the Hod-son-Lewis wedding.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Pearce, Mr. and Mrs. Campbell Pearce, and Miss M. Pearce, of Featherston, and Mrs. A. E. Pearce are in Wanganui for the Hod-son-Lewis wedding.

Sir Thomas and Lady Wilford, Heretaunga, are the guests of Mr. E. C. Wilford for the Hodson-Lewis wedding.

Mesdames W. H. Ross, Lower Hutt, and L. Dineen, Palmerston North, have been visiting their parents, 'Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Hair.

Mesdames A. Burnard and J. Sangster, Wellington, are the guests of their sister, Mrs. H. C. Jenkins, St. John's Hill.

Mr. and Mrs. W. Mathieson, Wellington, have been in Wanganui for the Friends' School sports.

Mr. and Mrs. Cleland, Otaki, are visiting the city.

Mr. and Mrs. Daw'son are Wellington vistors.

Miss^Ngaire Russell, Castlecliff, is visiting Wellington.

Miss E. O. Stanford is visiting New Plymouth and Stratford for the reunion of old girls of Chetwode and St. Mary's Schools. Miss Stanford founded Chetwode in 1898, and in 1918, at the suggestion of the Primate of New Zealand (Bishop Averill), she took over St. Mary's Diocesan School. ' She retired from St. Mary's in 1923.
